My husband and I just got back from a short but way too exciting camping
trip with old friends. My husband and one of our group had both been
fire-fighters and when they looked at the clouds piling up over the lake
they predicted thunder--and lightning--coming soon. I managed to take
some photos which I painted this (and other paintings) from before the
serious thunder, lightning, and rain began. We sat out the brief
thunderstorm in our various campers all the time worrying about the
possibility of fire from the lightning in our drought-stricken
area...and, sure enough, fires did start. We left the following morning
just in the nick of time as we found out when we got home that the lake
was surrounded by fires and the roads were being closed!
